Sun causes cutaneous lupus to flare. It goes all UVA and UVB.
Stay out of sun.
If you must go outside, wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, wide brimmed hat and use a high SPF sunscreen that states that it blocks both UVA and UVB.

Avoid fluorescent lights, unless you're covered.
Take your medications faithfully.
Learn to reduce and manage stress. It makes all types of lupus worse.

Engage your rheumatologist and the dermatologist in a dialogue on how best to manage the disease.
