It is believed that brain damage begins years before symptoms appear, and when symptoms appear, the nerve cells of the brain responsible for information management have already begun to die. The vast majority of patients with the condition of receiving assistance and Alzheimer's care in their own home by a family member or friend. This condition can often particularly difficult for the staff if they are forced to watch someone cares degenerate at a rapid speed, to the point where they no longer recognize their own family and friends. This terrible disease can leave patients and caregivers frustrated and demoralized, and let them feel completely lost on how to continue to live. A ray of light is that of Alzheimer's disease support groups that provide support for caregivers and patients. Not only that, it is a social occasion for patients and caregivers to look forward to where they can meet others in the same situation and realize they are not alone in the symptoms They are forced to deal with. Although currently much of the state is a mystery, there is some degree of hope for the future, with continued testing and experimentation on the subject. Scientists hope to learn more about the cause of the disease and its effects on the brain, which should allow further development of existing treatments and perhaps even an eventual cure.
