Alzheimer's disease causes memory loss Since the German psychiatrist who first diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease is a fatal disease that has two unknown cause and cure. There are treatments that help prevent the disease develops in its complete form. Plus there are already drugs that could help patients manage their agitation, depression, hallucinations or delusions which could manifest themselves during the later stages of the disease.
There are a number of symptoms to diagnose the disease. The most important of which is memory loss. What seems to be a simple lapse in memory could be the beginning of Alzheimer's disease. Memory loss in Alzheimer's disease occurs more unusual fluctuations oblivion to memory loss in the short term.
Later, the patient will begin to forget things familiar and recognized competence. They begin to forget names, objects and people, even those close to them. Alzheimer's memory loss is often accompanied by aphasia, disorientation and disinhibition. Apart from forgetting and amnesia, some refer to the Alzheimer's related memory loss by deterioration of memory, decline of memory, or memory impairment (Loring, 1999).
One, however, should not conclude that all memory loss is caused by Alzheimer's disease. There are two main causes of memory loss, namely the normal age or related memory loss and abnormal type. It is normal for people in middle age and older are starting to forget a few things. Their ability to remember time is often measured on a standardized scale.
If their scores are the memory limit prescribed, their memory loss is due to normal age-related causes. Meanwhile, if they fail to pass the scores mean that their memory loss is not caused by simple reasons of age, but an anomaly, or the appropriate age, illness or impairment of memory instead. One, therefore, must give professional medical workers to isolate and determine if he / she got Alzheimer's disease.
Apart from the first symptoms of memory loss, Alzheimer's disease at early stage could also change the behavior of the patient. And as the disease develops, the patient is losing control more and more about body functions, affecting the way people think and respond. With the effects on cognitive functions of the brain, the patient will have difficulty speaking, is trying to make skilled movements, and difficult to accomplish, and begin to slow in terms of movements.
The patient becomes indecisive and start having a hard time decision-making and planning of human activities. This loss of memory and cognitive functions are associated with frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. The two lobes are increasingly disconnected from the limbic system because of the disease.
In addition, some of the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease is mood swings and outbursts of violence or excessive passivity. Subsequent phases will be more horrible. People with Alzheimer's disease later in starting loose stools, and muscle control and mobility. In Alzheimer's usually develops and become fatal in about 7-10 years.
Since Dr. Alzheimer's disease diagnosed in 1901, there were many medical discoveries and tons of results of research studies and medical examinations proved to be beneficial in preventing or delaying Alzheimer's disease.
Studies have shown that exercise helps reduce the risk of contracting the disease. Scientists have found significant results which indicate that hypertension, high cholesterol, and low levels of vitamin folate may increase the risk of contracting Alzheimer's disease.
