What is the best way to relieve arthritis in the lower back causing pain throughout the leg? I have a pain in the lower back that moves in my legs.
I took the MRI that showed I have arthritis. The doctors tell me it's because of arthritis that I have this pain in my legs. Could it be something else? .. what can I do to eleviate pain?
Oh Nikki, I'm sorry, because I know the exact pain you mentioned.
Heres where the answer gets complicated and almost unbelievable ........ 2 years after my MRI done exactly the same symptoms I said exactly the same about arthritis, and deferred by two doctors, an orthopedic surgeon and a GP. As my leg and hip pain worsened I finally ended up in the emergency and was told by an ER Doc who saw my MRI on the computer hospital, I clearly had a herniated disc and had a hernia in my sciatic nerve. Remember, this is the only MRI that I have ever had.
The ER doctor told me that for some reason do not Orhthopedist diagnose disk problems like this because the do not like surgery. The ER doctor called in a neurosurgeon and I was in surgery the next day to remove the disc, making it "jump" It was so great. In the recovery room I felt 80 percent better, however, I am now on disablity due to total permanent sciatic nerve damage. I'm going to pain clinic and Mangement physical therapy and my life is completely and forever changed. I am 43.
Please, Please, Please see a neurosurgeon and watch them on your MRI. A return arthretic does not cause pain in the leg as you describe, it is the sciatic nerve and I am sorry I can not tell you something alieviate your pain that you are not already, but increase your pain drug temporarily. You worry about RightNow needent addiction to pain medications you are on the go directly to the pain. As long as you take them as intended, you have nothing to fear. If you do you may just end up taking drugs in the future and forever.
Feel free to E Mail me if you have any questions and I honestly hope that you will find rest for your pain soon, I know the misery you are right now.
PS I would avoid chiropractors now !!!!!
What are your Dr. 's do you recommend for pain? Drugs against pain? I find a pain clinic and get recommendation to relieve pain. I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes!
If you have pain in the legs, then artharitis is worse than they say, or it is a Problemi vertebra was born with a deformed lumbar 5th and caused all sorts of changes in my lower back, until my disks are bulging and my nerves have been irritated to the point of my legs are paralyzed.
I ended up having two major surgeries and I feel for you with the pain in the legs! A leastIi can walk, but with a cane and sometimes I have to use a wheelchair for long journeys.
I would get a second opinion.
Are you sure it's just arthritis? Perhaps you also have a pinched nerve. pinched nerves in the lumbar spin (lower back) can cause pain radiating down the outside of your legs. should raise your legs and applying ice or heat in the back by more comfort. feel better soon.
My cousin had something like this and for years and one day, he hit so hard and she could not do anything and had to take time off work. His doctor has tried several things to try to find relief for his success with little or no, then one day they sent him to a new doctor.
The doctor used a laser to burn the nerve endings on each side of the back (not one side, then returned a month later and had the other side). She is now back at work and all is well. The doctor said sometimes the nerves are regenerating as they grow new roots (like the branches of tree), but if they do, they will go in this regard and give rel.
