Book ideas on autism and inclusion? Preparation of a library of resources for general education in college for my son. I have some books in mind to help teachers with ideas about inclusion and autism. All suggestions are appreciated book. Thank you!
Dr. Jed Baker is one of the main actors in the teaching of social skills for children on the autism spectrum. I use his book, "Social skills training for children and adolescents with Asperger Syndrome and Social-Communication Problems" all the time. Another good book is its "preparation for life." He also has a picture book of the same skills for use with low verbal children with autism.
What is ordered on the first book is that every child in the room can use a brush on these skills, especially in college. So when you teach lessons in a regular classroom, he does all kinds of sense for teachers. The other thing I do is teach a behavior problem that occurs in the classroom today instead of making my way through the book one page at a time. For example we have just learned the lesson about attracting positive attention that has worked well. Also children can help the SOS coach of the autistic child.
Another book, "inclusive programming for college students with autism / Asperger syndrome, by Sylvia Wagner gets good reviews, but I have not used.
Another book was well reviewed "You'll love this child!: Teaching students with autism in inclusive classroom" by Paula Kluth. She has another good book, "Give him the whale!: 20 ways to Use Fascinations, areas of expertise, and strengths to support students with autism. "
"Ten Things Your Student with Autism Wishes You Knew"
by Ellen Notbohm is well regarded.
