Auto Accident Settlement

Auto Accident SettlementHow much should I ask a car accident settlement?

I was in a car accident last May. I was rear ended the other person at fault. I went to the emergency room that day for back pain and again on the 1st, I went to the doctors 3 times, referred to see a chiropractor, which did not help as they provided me an MRI . After considering they now have me in Physical Therapy. My medical bills without the chiro and PT is about $ 9000. How much is a fair settlement?

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! You're not yourself and you do not ask on Yahoo! Answers!

You get a lawyer. I am not a lawyer, but believe me, even with the contingency fee of 35% to the lawyer, you will take home more money than if you do it yourself. The other insurance company wants you to do yourself and maybe even making a bid without asking first (and if that is what happened, then you know you have a case that lawyer will help you with).

I was in an accident, and the other type of company offerred me a thousand dollars - and I had not asked, or even got my prescription for PT. I told a colleague who informed me that my case was gold for a lawyer. Ultimately, I got a $ 7,500 Judgement, taking home $ 4500 - because I had a lawyer.

The downside is that it took something like 2 years for this end - and my lawyer told me that it would take at least that long. I was ready for it, and you should be too. What will happen probably in your case, you complain, then you sit back and let the lawyer do the stuff. At the end of the year (probably 12/31) in 2006 or 2007, the other company will start trying to close the books - if your lawyer is good, he knows how it works and it is a lever for a maximum of possibilities.

I am sure that you want your money now, but patience is a virtue and a silver winner. From a lawyer - and not one of those lawyers 1-800 television. Go to your state bar association and obtain a list of lawyers who handle payments crash, then call around. This may take a few calls - the first two I called almost laughed at me, but the third guy was helpful and obviously not a flake ... In fact, he had graduated from one of the top 10 law schools (Penn).

Good luck!

You have received some answers right here. The guy who thought that your case might be worth a million trial may be right, depending on your actual injury. But the advice to get a lawyer and be patient seems to run through a common theme with most of us here.

Again, good luck Report Abuse

Ask for $ 9000.

What about the automotive repair?

the amount of your bills and expenses of the pain that you may suffer later from the accident.

If the other person has committed a mistake, ask what you are entitled. The cost of your medical, your absence from work, costs of repairing your car, legal expenses directly related to the accident, etc. Basically, it should be all that you can show receipts, plus some amount for your problems. But this whole business of millions of dollars for institutions pain and anguish is ridiculous. IMHO, it's just there to make the lawyers rich.

The full cost of treatment if you have accident insurance. Otherwise, it might be a good ethics, to depend on the relative ability of the parties concerned.

Can you say, "Attorney"?

you know you should really think about the other party before starting to pursue. why I say that because I rear ended (not really just throwing in one stop) and she continued for 15 Grand. I am a single mother who can of course happen only $ 15. I would just think. the damage I have done to his car was 2.
