Chronic Insomnia Treatment

Chronic Insomnia TreatmentWhat is the best for the treatment of chronic insomnia, SEROQUEL or amitriptyline?

I had really bad insomnia for almost two months now. This is mainly due to nocturnal anxiety. I worry too much more randomly in the night, and he holds me. It is incredibly frustrating and makes everyday life very difficult to get through at times. Not only am I tired all day, but it increased my anxiety and I am depressed a lot easier. I would only like maybe three hours a night, if I had the chance. I tried Ambien and it hits me right, but usually I wake up after only three or four hours of sleep in the middle of the night and I have trouble falling asleep again.
I started on amitriptyline by my doctor, and so far it has helped a little. Although it does not stop me from worrying at night, it helps me sleep better still if I was not on it. I still wake up in the middle of the night, but I find it easier to sleep because I'm asleep. With it, I get between 5 and 8 hours of sleep total of 8 if I'm lucky.
I read about SEROQUEL, and it seems to be a medicine that doctors prescribe too much insomnia. Read about it, it seems that there are fewer side effects of SEROQUEL in amitripyline. I will see my doctor in a week or two and ask if he could put me on to try a little SEROQUEL. SEROQUEL would be the best choice, or should I stay with amitripyline?

Eric

Between two (or more) the best drug is one that makes you feel better.
I suggest you read the sections "Non-medical treatment and behavioral therapy" and "Lifestyle and home remedies" in http://insomnia-sleeplessness.blogspot.c ...

If possible, avoid taking sleeping pills (including the two mentioned)

Hope this helps. Regards!

Try smoking pot. No, seriously. I had the sleep / insomnia issues before, and Seroquel, Ambien and Trazodone all these unnatural chemicals was simply too strong for me and left me feeling hung over and knocked the next day which contravenes the whole object. In addition, these drugs are too addictive and dangerous IMO. I kept having to double my dose every night.

With just a weed joint does every night. Simple. I sleep a lot, have big dreams, wake up groggy and less than sleep drugs. More weeds, you can not overdose on it and it is not physically addictive like drugs. And for me, no doubt marijuana is my concern and anxiety disappear. In fact use of marijuana and prescribed to treat anxiety. Thus, marijuana may be able to treat your anxiety, your sleep problems. Not sure, but I think you can get a driver's medicinal marijuana for insomnia too.

Imo insomnia may be because of a chemical imbalance, lack of sleep causing chemicals or hormones or something. These drugs only increase the chemical imbalance, IMO. Stick with natural, try marijuana. But if you even want to try it because the government imposes fears about it, then I recommend you try trazodone. It is more natural basis of other medications the prescription sleep.

Yes SEROQUEL is prescribed for insomnia as an off-label use many times

Different drugs affect people differently, so this may be good for one may not be good for another

I would like to discuss with your doctor and what continues to let him know
you could also start a sleep diary to show your doctor what time you go to bed at what time you get up at what time you wake up in the middle of the night, it could help
