What is anorexia?

Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves. Anorexia usually begins in young people around puberty. People who suffer from anorexia have extreme weight loss. Weight loss is usually less than 15% of the weight of the normal person's body. People with anorexia are very skinny but are convinced they are overweight. Weight loss is achieved by many ways. Some techniques commonly used are excessive exercise, laxatives and not eating.

Anorexics have an intense fear of gaining weight. Their habits to develop a regime of fear. Anorexia mainly affects adolescent girls.

People with anorexia continue to think they are overweight, even after she became extremely thin, are very ill or near death. Often they will develop strange eating habits such as refusing to eat in front of others. Sometimes, individuals preparing food for other great while refusing to eat it all.

The disease is thought to be most common among people of higher socioeconomic classes and people involved in activities where thinness is especially considered, such as dance, theater, and distance running.

... Taken from the Internet ...? * Shrugs * Too much use of the word "anorexia". I do not really have other reactions to what I went through the class of health. It's so rare to hear about the disorder (not saying that this is not harmful), so I became ... "Desensitization", I suppose.

Sheesh! I have ADD and do not have time for all these words! Cut to the chase, my daughter!

I think you do not know what anorexia is until you have the problem.

stop asking this question! We're not doing your homework for you!

OMG!

People with anorexia are very skinny but are convinced they are overweight.

I do not know what you are looking for in an answer, but it is sooo very true! I did read and it reminds me of so many young stars of today ... Keira Knightly, Mary Kate, Nicole Ritchie, to name a few. The girls learn to think today looks like a twig is "normal" because so many stars eating disorders and body weight are often publicized. Hope this helps, good luck!

I already knew about anorexia.

Course .. you got the information from a website! This is not how it is in real life! It may be a good item for the "normal" people, but for me (recovery) I'm not caring.

You can also add that anorexia is a constraint and often has to do with the person with trying to be in control (often because in other areas of their lives, they have absolutely no control so that they may well be that the control of food intake ago) i find the article informative and well thought you might also add that there are literally hundreds of websites dedicated to this lifestyle and they give advice on how to be the best they could be anorexic (I know its gross) sad but true. .. Anorexic people can also develop many other diseases because of the lower teeth panic attacks anorexia lose hair bruise easily insomnia heart problems, and the list goes on and do some more research it is much more to say about this horrible disease

Anorexia often affects those who have self-esteem issues. The person may be told they are perfect the way they are, but have a problem believing in themselves. Watch Karen Carpenter. She suffered from low self-esteem, even if people around her kept telling her she was beautiful. Even Princess Diana had suffered from anorexia. Sometimes peer pressure can motivate people to purge after eating. I think if you're happy with yourself first, what others say you should not and may not be a factor on you as a person. I personally am more.
