I am 13 years old, 5 feet exactly, and 120 pounds. I have a serious impairment of body image and my mother is afraid that I am on the point of anorexia or bulimia. I told him I'd never do anything like that, but I doubt it. What are the symptoms of anorexia and bulimia and how can I convince my mother and myself that I do not want an eating disorder?

Hey im 19 and like you I had the same thought! but I'm culdnt thoughts and had to be done about it so i solething startved for a while because I culd never bring myself to throw up! I could not even take my shir the beach because I thought I was fat! but every time I went to the doctor, he told me that I was actually too low! thankfullt I never developed an eating disorder complete fleged! I still struggle with body image, even if im a real popular guy but I never go on the road in bad times! Oly Ive had a quick overview of anorexia as a little show and it is not enough!

so here are some ways to tell if someone is anorexic or anorexic thinking:

Anorexia is characterized by:

aec Extreme concerns about weight
aec Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat
aec Discuss maintenance of body weight very low
aec Often absent menstrual cycles

People with anorexia have an intense desire to loss weight and being thin (often unhealthy SO). Although people with anorexia are usually scarce, they generally believe they are "fat".

Food, weight and appearance often become the main focus for someone who has anorexia. Focusing on food and weight becomes a way (conscious or unconscious) to treat or manage intense emotions or emotional they know.

Males and females of any social or economic background, may suffer from anorexia. Although the disease usually starts in teenage years and it can occur at any age, and its occurrence is often associated with a stressful event or period of fasting.

Signs of Anorexia
Some common signs of anorexia may be:

What Causes Anorexia Nervosa?
Eating disorders like anorexia are a combination of problems of physical and mental health and there are usually a number of factors that contribute to its development. These factors may include all or part of the following:

aec physical, emotional, sexual or trauma
aec Cultural emphasis or preoccupation with the ideals of body image
aec Relationships with peers and family
aec Loss and Bereavement
aec Brain chemistry
aec The physiological effects of dietary
aec Stress or coping styles
aec Genetic factors
aec A feeling of lack of control over her life
aec An inability to cope and manage the emotions and feelings in a more positive
