Epilepsy In Toddlers

Epilepsy In ToddlersEpilepsy and delivery

For those of us who suffer from epilepsy we know that the disease may go into remission. People who have epilepsy, do not know that this disease may go into remission.

Surprising as it may be, it can and must for some of us.

Let me explain:

As a child of three years, I had a seizure, which was diagnosed as a febrile seizure (high fever), and was put on an anti-epileptic drug for a couple of years. That's what I only recently discovered my mother. I knew about the seizure at the age of 3, but did not know I was on medicine for a while.

And being young, I have no recollection of it.

Finally, no more drugs in life continued. Until January 15, 1993, when I had a full blown seizure gran ill at work and ended up in hospital, where I was treated and released.

Right now, my life took a drastic and unexpected change.

Looking back now over the years, I was fortunate to be in remission during growth, but often wonder all the time "staring into space" (dream) was probably absent seizures. I will really never know.

For example, when I started driving, one day on my way to work, I stopped at the gas station, putting gas in my car and then work. When I got home, dad asked what happened to the car? I said what? Well, apparently I started the car and do not remember it. With Thinking about it, I may very well had a seizure and hit a pole when you pull into the gas station. I have no recollection of this place, but my neurologist thinks it is very possible what happened.

As a crisis occurs, the short-term memory goes. Even today I do not really remember anything after seizure, what I was doing, saying, etc. It's pretty scary, especially if you do something that requires you to be vigilant ... like driving.

How can I live with that? I just do. I learned to take as many precautions as possible. I keep track of my triggers, my food, my medication ... all, because each person feels a seizure differently.

Do I think I have Epilepsy? Well, I am diagnosed as having epilepsy with petit mal gran evil and seizures. Well, my deep conviction that there is a cause for which I get seizures from time to time. Why? Because anyone, anywhere at any age can have a crisis and not be diagnosed as epilepsy may be diagnosed as epilepsy usually after three or more seizures. Yes, my brain waves showed electrical activity that led to my diagnosis. However I would like the tests were taken at different times, and especially when I had not had a period. When I had my first seizure, and several others later, he has always been when I had my period. It's funny how some doctors are not listening to the patient.

I have a low threshold for seizures (everyone has a seizure threshold) makes me more susceptible to having a crisis because of my triggers, such as sleep deprivation, decongestants, pain medications, caffeine, aspartame, starches, sugars (bad), sugar (white sugar), stress, hypoglycemia, illness (common cold), migraines, allergies and the list continues.

Yes epilepsy may go into remission at any time and I come back at any time. Therefore, in an epileptic, I have to maintain my health, all documents and take precautions because there are consequences if the treatment plan and other medical precautions are not followed.

Currently, my epilepsy has been in and out of remission. Partly because of hypoglycemia and the fact that I estrogen in the body, which was an important trigger for a number of years. My doctor is currently reviewing treatment plans that will better control and reduce seizures. Fortunately for me, my seizures are not bad gran. They are partial seizures, which I recover much faster than me
