What other jobs would disqualify me Epilepsy? Try joining the military after I left school, my application was rejected after confessing to epilepsy. Join the army was really the only thing I wanted to do after I left school so I do not really know what to aim for.
Well anyway back in part on the right track, I was wondering if there were other jobs I may not be able to do with my little brain condition. Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.
Talk to your doctor. You should not attempt any job that involves driving, equipment operation, and be particularly attentive to any situation where an episode could endanger yourself or others.
A friend found a job in the graphics and the likes. She has always had great artistic talent. She has not had an episode in years now, but if it happens, it is an office where she can not really get seriously hurt or endanger another person.
The two I hear most often are military and pilots. They do not care how long it has been since you had one, you're out. (Too many astronauts, who really sucks for me personally, but that makes sense.)
Epilepsy is included in the Americans with Disabilities Act. You do not have to tell a potential employer that you have epilepsy. They can legally discriminate against you because of epilepsy If you are unable to perform the actions necessary for your work, but only if they can not make reasonable adjustments that would ensure that you can make. Is that logical?
Basically, the military can do nothing to prevent you from throwing grenades around if you have a crisis, but it would be reasonable to ensure that your currency exchange fluorescent light flickers so it does not trigger one.
Hope it helps, but you can check some of these sites.
Job applications are usually exhausting - How should I fill them? If you follow when there is no response? I think there is no definitive solution, but the website in the box below has some tips really impressive about this. It really helped me when I was filling out job applications recently, in addition, they have extra stuff on the job search.
