I managed my pain of fibromyalgia with guaifenesin for 10 years until I learned about vitamin D3. Guaifenesin is no cure, but it does manage pain. My theory is that the nodes and thicken the liquid pool. They share around the nerves and create pressure on the nerves. You wake up with muscle pain that "flows" in a few hours if you sit up, but the longer you stay in bed the most pain?
Three months ago, I started to high levels of vitamin D3 for 3 weeks and is now without pain. I knocked at the dose of 2000iu a day and a week later, the pain is back. After restarting levels, pain is managed again. I am very hopeful that this may help to improve my health.
Personally, I have 30,000 IU per day for a couple of months trying to fill my shopping. It is strongly recommended that you have your levels tested vit.D, but my research shows that the toxicity to outrageous levels long term.
The vitamin D3 becomes an epidemic. U.S. RDAs are too low and the Order of vitamin D are the wrong type (ergocalciferol). Fortunately, you can buy vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and the upper limit is extremely high. Current recommendations are 35iu per pound - a need for 150 # minimum 5250iu per day and the RDA is 400 IU. This amount is small for the needs and do not include stores depleted. Mars, when our stores are at their lowest. Low levels of vitamin D greatly increases your risk of cancer, diabetes, MS and heart attack.
My current research leads me to believe that fibromyalgia may actually be a thyroid problem and perhaps not enough iodine (which causes problems of iodine) iodine as guaifenesin thins mucous. Guaifenesin unlike iodine is a necessary nutrient. Testing shows that 95% of people suffer from iodine deficiency.
My laboratory tests of thyroid are always shown as "normal" but I have obvious symptoms of thyroid dysfunction (basal temperature of 95F among many others) The basal temperature test (in my opinion) one more test specific thyroid function.
The Barnes Basal temperat.
