My doctor has contacted me regarding the referral to a rheumatologist (sorry for spelling!), But do not see it until Wednesday - not sure what the tests, examinations and expert on tell me - any other information would be welcome

Hi Sarah! A rheumatologist is a bit the last place you go for a "certain" diagnoses. At least that's how it went for me. The rheumatologist will give you a blood test to make sure you do not have RA. He / she will affect different areas of your body to see if you have any response, i / e test for tenderness. He / she can also do X-rays to make sure you do not have osteoarthritis or arthritis.

be warned - most of docs - including most Rheumatologits are incompetent when it comes to fibromyalgia

think it's an emotional issue
think it is arthritis
think it is a general term for any pain
