Geriatric Nursing

Geriatric NursingWhat are the best paying jobs in geriatric nursing?

I am an RN student, and as Woking with geriatric patients. What are the best paying jobs in this area?

The demand for geriatric nurses will increase as our population ages. I visited geriatric units and psycho geriatric ER - hospitals continue to adapt to a growing number of patients. With Gerontological NP, I understand that you can earn big money as a consultant or a geriatric care manager, helping seniors and their families to health care, services and end of life.

If you are looking to specialize in geriatrics, and there is not much outside of nursing homes. The work of the highest paying nursing in a nursing home is DON (Director of Nursing).
I recommend not to go off in a nursing home. As a new nurse you need a broad base of challenges. Each resident is substantially the same in a nursing home. You'll see a lot of hypertension, diabetes and dementia and not much. If you start there and then eventually leave your knowledge in general care will be low.
Start on the medical / surgical floor of the hospital, then move on if you wish. About 65% of patients med surge / are geriatric.
