Hearing Aids

Hearing AidsHearing aids?

I have a hearing loss, and its getting worse. I have tinnitus and want to know if you have that and that hearing aids have worked for you. What can I expect to pay for them and where are they available? At this point, I am doing research and saving pennies. Are there organizations that help people understand the work?

If your hearing is not too bad, you can be fit with hearing aids that are called "good open." This leaves your ear canal as open as possible, this combined with the amplification have helped many people who suffer tinnitus.

A good hearing aid quality is not cheap. You should expect to pay between 1200-2800 for help, and it may be more depending on where you live. But keep in mind this is an investment that should help you AT LEAST 5 years. Some insurance companies cover only a small part of your hearing aids, but most do not. It is something called "credit care" that some audiologists use to help their patients to finance their hearing aids ... its like if you were to buy a product from the house and they offer no interest for however many months.

But no matter what, you need to get a thorough evaluation by an audiologist and get their best recommendation. Do not go to Beltone, Walmart, Amplifon, Nu Ear, Miracle Ear, or any other large chain ... their primary concern is to establish the Commission and hoping that you do not return your AIDS in the trial period. Go to a licensed audiologist who cares about your hearing on the sale.

Thats the biggest pot I've heard in a while! I work for the miracle ear and my first concern is people not hearing my committee. So I know what your classroom is in hearing aids and audiologist is not the best person to party! Flag

Practicing for 10 years, I often hear talk audiologists confusion about their qualifications. Your insipid remarks have no place in the professional world of hearing care. Shame on you for misleading people who need our help! Flag

Refurbished is a great way to go if you do not have much money. I'm deaf and just got two for less than 2,000. Some places will let you make overpayments, which is fine if you do not have much money. Report Abuse

Hearing aids work for me. I am 100% completely deaf in my left ear. I 110db loss in my left ear right across the board and the hearing aid I use in the ear works perfectly. I can hear everything very clearly. I can listen to music, TV, radio,
cars, etc. Report Abuse

Check with your local Lions Club. They have a program at low cost hearing aids for people in need, and have been really nice to me. I have the same problems, but my audiologist said that my hearing loss can be helped with hearing aids.

Good luck to you!

I have tinnitus very bad and getting worse over the years, I also have 70 decibel hearing loss. I'm on my second pair of hearing aids, they have two pick-up, the first pair had only one pick-up and were not strong enough for me. I hate them all, they seem artificial. If you do much then sudden noises will y.
