Hearing Facts

My question is to ask if anyone has ever been a "finding of facts hearing? ... And if so, what does that mean?
When the father can not see his son because he is a vile person and should not be allowed around a vulnerable child. This hearing is to determine whether or not he can have access to his child ...

We would just have a better idea of what to expect over the next two days. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
