Horse Wounds

Horse WoundsHorse injury?

I get my first horse at the end of summer, and I'm going to be a very nice barn where I can get as much help as I need, I would like to compile a list of horse injuries and comman remedies. For example, what should I put on a bee sting, a small cut on the legs, swelling of the legs etc.. So if you please list some of the most comman wound your horse is and how to cure them, I'm sure I can compile a list of Nice and the much more prepared for my first horse! Thank you in advance!

Most horses get injured just being in the paddock. Sometimes you bite too weird. Most of them can be recovered (remove crust) to allow air to get them and rinsed in cold water. It's when you get into the puncture wounds that you should be more careful. If this is not so deep, sometimes cleaning with hot water Epsom salts / (you will see that this will be your best friend almost at once) is the best and then spray some Betadine top to avoid being contaminated. Polysporin could become a good friend sometimes too! :) If the puncture wound is deep enough, it might be time to call a veterinarian. My horse just drilled in the chest and under the veterinarian was 3 millimeters away from hitting a main artery. His chest was puffed along the entire leg. Another question I discussed recently, was a mare take a hit in the ball. The blow was so profound that it has behind it near the deep flexor tendon on his right thigh. For both horses, and antibiotics in the case of castration first, a bit of Bute was the solution. Here are some of the biggest problems I have treated.

Swelling may disappear with exercise. Some horses may balloon from a simple insect bites and some are a little more difficult in which nothing happens.

Most of the time picking scabs off and let air get to a wound will heal the best. Most are not of any concern.

You limp meeting at some point in a horse. It could be years on the road, but it can still happen. Usually stall rest for a few days can be cured or, sometimes the foot of your horse really needs to be watched. If your horse tends to be "off" a lot and is barefoot, he may need shoes. Some horses have softer feet than others and tend to bruise easily.

During the winter rainy season months / have some thrushbuster available on hand because most horses get the fungus on the feet. Do not use too much because it dries up the law since thrush develops in liquid / sludge / Icky conditions.

Always good to have on hand:
-Betadine
Polysporin-
-A couple of syringes for flushing wounds
Gaze-
Clean up arch / stand / stall bandages (and know how to close properly ... tendon inwards same voltage, etc.). N arcs are much better than a simple pillow cover!
Epsom-salts
MTG-
-Sponges (clean)
-towels/cloths (clean)
Vet wrap
Peroxide-
Thrushbuster-(a little bleach dissolved can do the same thing thrushbuster)
-Excalibur (if you have a gelding for cleaning of duct)
Bute-
Vaseline-
Clear, white gloves (you know the kind plasticky?)
Poultice-
-Hooflex (to keep the hoof)
Thermometer (be sure to attach a rope to it or it could be an embarrassing call to the vet)

Okay

Rain Rot / Rain Scald - This is a fungal disease and is usually very difficult to remove. It occurs when moisture accumulates under the hair and provides an environment conducive to the growth of fungi. This occurs especially during rainy seasons.
To rid your horse rain rot, there are many sprays you can buy at your feed store tack room /.

For cuts and scrapes --- Furisone cream or cider vinegar are both very good at healing and soothing Woun.
