National Eating Disorder Week National Eating Disorders Awareness Week National Eating Disorder Awareness Week began Feb. 22 and runs through February 28, 2009. March 1 sees the opening of the Women's Center for Healthy Living at Lakeview Health Systems Jacksonville, Florida. This will help to publicize the seriousness of this disease and the general attitude that prolong the suffering of those affected. All organizations across the country will use this week as a platform to help the public understand the impact produced by the behavior of patients. People must understand that eating disorders are not a choice but a lifestyle or life-threatening illness. What may appear to have begun as a preoccupation with food or body image is probably centered on issues of self-esteem and physical or psychological violence. National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is an annual event designed to highlight all the arrears of interest associated with this disease. Eating Disorder organizations will make a concerted effort to better educate employers, medical workers and those in the field of education. Education should not be limited to only the symptoms and treatment but also the lack of insurance coverage available to ensure proper treatment. Changes were mandated by Congress, but will not take effect until 2010. Treatment facilities for eating disorders such as opening a Jacksonville may help cure this disease, but it belongs to the family and friends to identify and satisfy the suffering to seek treatment eating disorder .
