New Lupus Treatments

I had discoid lupus for almost 30 years. I have first on my face now and it hurts and it bothers me greatly. the more horrible, as I have been in a fire. I took plaquenil for years and it has not helped, gave me a liver problem. doesn anyone know of any new treatments? if yes please help.

I do not know if it's a "new" treatment, but the natural progesterone does wonders for people with autoimmune disorders, including lupus.

The occurrence of autoimmune diseases occur more often in middle-aged women - the time of life when estrogen dominance becomes common. Birth control pills also cause autoimmune diseases by inducing the body to form antibodies against its own hormones.

It is well known that autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis (MS) often go into remission during pregnancy (when our body produces high levels of progesterone and estriol) to return in force after childbirth.

Correction estrogen dominance by blocking estradiol estrogen action using estriol in conjunction with progesterone can lead to a gradual improvement.

Other hormones may also be playing with autoimmune diseases: estrogen, cortisol, DHEA, progesterone and must all be taken into consideration.
