How should I treat a wound / pulled shoulder muscle? I just started to do Pilates, and I think I pulled my shoulder muscle. What is the best way to treat a pulled muscle? and how can I be sure not to do that again? Thank you
If this is your trapezius ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co ...
Take the thickest part of the muscle and work your way there to ensure you have a firm grip (beginning with the small first pressure so as not to exaggerate). It will not be pleasant to the touch ... try to lift your shoulder up and down and rotate (if you've caught the right, there will be no huge movements). When you release, you will notice some of the tensions would dissipate.
If this is your deltoid ( http://sapientendeavours.com/cms/images/ ...
I lay on my stomach on the ground. Then, the work of my hands so they intersect with hands down. c.) The right hand towards the left hand left to right. Go as far as you can relax in the pose. Another less intensively to achieve is a right arm, elbow to elbow and use your other arm free to put toward your body while cupping the elbow.
By stretching your muscles, move slowly and take time to see how your body reacts. This way, you can find your advantage without coerce or harm you further. That would be my advice on prevention as well. Take Pilates slowly and work up the installation.
Rest:
Rest is recommended for the early recovery phase, a period of 1 to 5 days depending on the severity of the injury. Immobilization is generally not necessary and can be potentially dangerous. Immobilization in a splint or cast should be carefully monitored by your doctor because this can lead to muscle stiffness.
Ice #:
Applying ice helps reduce swelling, bleeding and pain. Ice application should begin as soon as possible after suffering a muscle pull. application of ice can be done frequently, but should not be done for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Do not overdo it. If you feel pain too, stop and rest.
there is no sure way not to do it again, but put ice on it and if it is not inflated the heat and take it easy good luck to you
