Hourly rate for part-time, live-out Nanny? I am a graduate student 24 years with my teaching certificate for k-6. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology with attention to education and child development.
Currently, I work as a part-time, live-out nanny. I work three days per week (Mon-Wed), usually between the hours of 7:45 to 16:45. When hired, I was only looking after a girl of 10 months. As a tour unfortunate combination of circumstances has occurred, this child has been diagnosed with epilepsy, forcing me to move between hospital and home for three months, with the pursuit of their other daughter (8 years) during the night. I now have to administer medication in the morning and monitor it for signs of behavioral activity on seizures to come.
When hired, my responsibilities were only dealing with baby's needs, which included things like feeding, changing, bathing, laundry, cleaning and maintaining up after happy. Additional jobs included YR 8 found off the old school in the morning, when she was at home (custody), and to take the garbage / recycling, loading and unloading the dishwasher and light and vacumming cleaning the house.
Now, however, five months into the job, I am training a new puppy, cleaning it messes that were left for me. I'm washing the dishes in the family, the family laundry folding, cleaning after the damage of the family around the house. I organize recycling, work hours are not fixed. I am not informed of when the parent will come to the house, and are often required to work overtime without prior notice. The child's father is unemployed and hangs around the house on a daily basis, leaving me uncomfortable to have to maintain it as well. The mother has her own business, but sometimes goes to the floor day (iesleeping, playing on the computer or watching television). so I tend to her child.
I was asked to create a filing system, complete important forms as I can, organize mail, organize a garage sale, and keep the family organized and up to date with the responsibilities, bills and maintenance home. She wants me to organize family photos, maintain albums etc.
With summer approaching, I'll be adding the 8yr old to handle the majority of the summer. She is a gifted student activities that require a lot of stimulation to occupy and satisfied.
What do you think is a good hourly rate to ask for more?
I live in Canada, and I am looking for my interest that I feel to be tapped.
Thank you for your help
I live in New York and pay my nanny $ 15 per hour, and its initial rate was sought $ 25 per hour and it just look at my baby, she did not even walk the dog lol.
Imo you should look at craigs list to see what the current hourly rate is a nanny in your area. You should also look into how a nurse, since you are administering drugs. I would take the median of these two and make my hourly wage. Of course, you'll have to sit and talk to family about your pay rise. I know you do not want to take all their money, but they have to pay you accordingly for your services. I think you should get at least $ 30 @ p / h. That is what the rate would be here for two children (especially if you're sick!)
They should not get paid unless the 15 at home.
